There is no replacement for good health.

Everyone wants to feel good, look good and live a long, healthy life.

So what is holding us back?

There are several considerations that many people overlook when trying to improve their overall health. The five facets of health must include: body, mind and soul. This holistic approach has been recommended for years, but largely forgotten in this high tech society. Let’s get back to basics.

The Soul

Let’s start with the most important element of good health. The soul is who you are. As much as people think that the body is their statement of life on earth, they are missing the point. We are souls inside bodies, not the other way around. We are here to serve the needs of our soul. So let’s get that part working right first.

Meditate for good health. Who has time? You do. This is your time to return to your inner being and find out what is going on there. Find time early in the morning to sit quietly for at least 20 minutes and concentrate on your higher self. This is crucial to your overall good health, mind, body and spirit. The soul controls who you are and how you will progress in this life. Give it the highest respect.

Find a quiet place and meditate on your highest power. This can be anything that appeals to you. Call it God if that does not offend you. Call it Goddess if that pleases you. The highest power can be called many things. It is not offended. It is only the mind that is offended by various names.

Offer yourself to this highest power. Surrender. Allow your mind to just relax and submit to the soul.

Let go. If thoughts come in, let them just go out. Don’t hold onto anything. If something is bothering you, ask your highest power to help you deal with it. There may come an answer. Maybe not at this time, but perhaps later.

I had been dealing with a very worrisome physical stomach ailment for several months until I finally came to the altar with it in prayer. I asked God for help. I asked him to heal me so I could be a better instrument for his work. I asked for his will to be done.

That day, I was at the bookstore and a book practically jumped into my hands. It was about going back to natural eating and eliminating toxic foods (more about this later). I started reading, and following its suggestions and began to feel better immediately. The next visit found another book for me, that is also making dramatic progress in my health. God answers prayers.

On the other hand, make sure your prayer is pure. Do not ask for selfish things. Ask first that God’s will be done. He knows what is best in the long run. That is the highest prayer.

Submit yourself to God. This is difficult for ego, but a prime necessity if you want to use God as your nearest and dearest friend, helper and confidant. You cannot think you know better. You don’t.

Again, meditate every day, sometimes twice a day, especially when under stress. If there is a need for peace, seek it out where it can be found.

Sometimes the most beautiful and healing meditations are done on the run. In the middle of a busy day, just stop, sit and wait. Allow the thoughts to go out as you focus on what is important, your highest self. Allow the peace to slowly enter into you and replace those teeming worries. You will find that God is the answer to everything in your life.

If you find it difficult to meditate, then at least pray. But keep trying to still your thoughts for at least a few minutes. The most peace can be found in a quiet mind.

The Mind

Your mind has a life of its own. Its main characteristic is ego. It thinks it can take care of you.

It can’t.

You need to take control of your mind. Stop the worries. Stop the thoughts that go around and round on the same track and never get anywhere. Stop the negativity.

The most important thing is to be aware that your thoughts are trying to take over your life and destroy your happiness. They sneak in sometimes and tell you bad things about yourself or your situation. Stop them!

Perfect peace can be obtained in your life if you take control of your mind. Do not allow it to control you. If a negative thought comes in, stop and change direction. Replace the negative thought with a positive one. Be the champion of your life.

If you hear your mind tell you something nasty, make a point of saying something positive. I say, “God is Love,” whenever I hear the nasties. I keep repeating it until the bad thoughts go away. The devil cannot stand in the face of truth. God is Love. Repeat.

Forgive people. No matter what they have done to you or to others, that is in God’s hands. Let those thoughts go. They are not your responsibility. Let go and let God. Do not harbour the enemy in your being. It will destroy you. Be free.

Love people no matter who they are. This is an aspect of divine Love, unconditional love, the kind God has for you. They are all creatures of the same planet, in whatever stage of evolution they are at right now. They will evolve in time. Love them as they are.

Love yourself. Feel the love God has for you and know it is true. You are loved beyond your wildest imagination. You can not know the depth of his love for you. Just know it to be true. Smile when you feel his love. Love is.

The Body

Take care of your body, the temple. It is in your control.

If you are feeling out of shape, or sick, do something about it. Don’t just go to the doctor. They can prescribe drugs that may have worse side effects than the disease.

Instead, go first to the soul. Ask for help. Then go to the mind and ask for direction. Then go to the body and allow it to heal through proper nutrition, elimination of poisonous substances, and regular exercise.

The body is a perfect instrument. Ask for it to be perfected so that you may be of service to God in this lifetime. Ask not for yourself, but for a higher power. Allow that higher power to manifest through you perfectly.

Eliminate wheat, gluten, soy and any commercial products that contain dangerous chemicals and additives. These will destroy your health. Read books about what is good for your body. Eliminate what is bad for you. Stop poisoning yourself.

I have found that eliminating wheat, all wheat, has made my stomach problems go away. There is wheat in many things so this is not easy. Gluten is another common substance in foods, and hard to track, but worth it. These grains are not the grains of our ancestors but are modified and harmful.

Resist all packaged foods. We do not know half of the things they put in them. I bought some microwave popcorn and checked out the ingredients online. One substance was said to be unfit for human consumption.

Do your research. Most people have access to the internet these days. Do a product search. Find out what is in these common foods and eliminate as much as possible. Try to eat only healthy, natural food.

Even food combinations can create stomach distress. Who knew that meat and potatoes should not be eaten together? Protein and starch do not digest well at the same time. Do your research. It’s all out there.

Exercise. For me, that’s a walk every day. I am not one for the gym or fancy exercise, but I love to walk. I go up the road, by the river, in the woods, wherever I please. I breathe fresh air. I commune with nature. I fill my lungs with clean air and my heart with joy. My body benefits by giving me a good, healthy circulation.

Everyone has some health issues, and it is not up to me to recommend what is good for you. Everyone is different. I can only say, start with the basics and do your research. Everything your doctor tells you may not be right for you.

My doctor always recommends drugs. I have refused my meds and have gone to the cause of my problem, not just reacting to the symptoms. I am healing myself, with help from my soul, mind and body. You can do the same. Of course, do what your doctor says if you find that he knows best, but do check out your options.

Soul, Mind and Body

Check in first with your soul. Let it lead your life, your decisions, your state of health in mind and body.

Check in with your mind to make sure it is not leading you astray. Negative thoughts are stressful thoughts and affect your quality of life. Take control.

Check in with your body. Do you feel fit? If not, do something about it. Make your body a living temple, a vehicle for your higher self to use as needed.

Be at peace. The truth is all inside you. You have the power.
