For the past five years he has devoted his full time to producing Mark Twain Day By Day, a four-volume annotated chronology in the life of Samuel L. Clemens. Two volumes are now available, and have been called, “The Ultimate Mark Twain Reference” by top Twain scholars. His aim for these books is “to provide a reference and starting-off place for the Twain scholar, as well as a readable book for the masses,” one that provides many “tastes” of Twain and perspective into his complex and fascinating life. He understands this is a work that will never be “finished” — in fact, he claims that no piece of writing is ever finished, only abandoned after a time. As a historian, David enjoys mixing historical aspects in his fiction. David is a semi-retired teacher (meaning he may continue to teach college writing) whose had some success in real estate and computer businesses, sandwiched between his undergraduate studies in the early 70s and his masters degree in education and composition, awarded in 2004. He was born and raised in Portland, Oregon, and has lived in New England, Southern California and Nevada. David looks at least ten years younger than his age (67) and is the father of three girls, the grandfather of four and the great-grandfather of two; he’s written, “It all shows what you can do if you fool around when you’re very young.” David’s a card. How many of us think humor has a place in mystery tales or history tomes? He claims his calico cat Sophie helps him edit his stories while lying across his arm when he is composing, and sinking her claws in with any poorly drawn sentence. As a writer, a humorist, a cat lover and father of girls, he relates well to Clemens. Writing hardboiled PI novels is his way of saying "NUTS!" to politically correct fiction.

Jeffrey A. Carver was a Nebula Award finalist for his novel Eternity's End. He also authored Battlestar Galactica, a novelization of the critically acclaimed television miniseries. I am an associate professor for the University of Maryland, Asian Division, currently based in Japan. I have lived and taught in Micronesia, Oman, the Czech Republic, Arizona, and California. When I am not teaching in Japan, I am building cabins in Queensland, Australia. I love hiking and scuba diving. My favorite hikes are in Austria; my favorite diving is in PNG. I have written several stage plays, three of which have been produced three times each. "Ti Jean", about the life and times of Beat writer Jack Kerouac, has been produced at an arts theatre in Tucson, AZ, and twice at universities in Missouri. "The Hickey", a one act comedy, was originally produced at The Temple of Arts and Music Caberet Theatre in Tucson, AZ; it received subsequent productions in Phoenix, AZ at Paradise Valley Community College and at Atherton Performing Arts in Queensland, Australia (2005). "Lobby Rats", a full-length farce, has been produced three times as well: once at the Historic Hotel Congress in downtown Tucson, AZ; another time at a hotel in Culver City, CA; and lastly, on video that was entered into some fringe film contest in Canada (2003). I am currenly writing skits and short plays for language learning to be used by EFL students and their teachers.

What can I say? I love writing. I love being able to publish my thoughts to a global audience. I love seeing someone buy one of my books. My favorite books so far?
